ESTATE PLAN PORTFOLIO
An Estate Plan will pass your assets to loved ones or charities and will also save them the worry and legal conflicts that can arise at a difficult time, when a loved one dies. If you have a well thought out plan, the transfer of your assets and care of your family will be a smooth transition. This plan can appoint a guardian for minor or disabled children and representatives to handle your financial affairs, healthcare and end of life choices if you are incapacitated. It will help you avoid a long drawn out legal process in which the court will make all these personal decisions for you.
TRUST ADMINISTRATION
This is the process of carrying out your wishes stated in your Estate Plan. We help the appointed Trustee to notify the appropriate government agencies of the death and guide them through the steps of contacting heirs, beneficiaries, creditors and tax professionals.
PROBATE
Probate is the legal process directed by the court by which the property of a decedent is retitled. A representative will be appointed by the court. Letters of Administration need to be obtained, creditors need to be notified and legal notices published. The court guides how and when this process takes place and can take many months or years to complete. A simpler process may be completed if the value of the assets are under $100,000.
